A sustainable journey
We take a circular approach to sustainability and are committed to making a positive impact on the environment, the social ecosystem in which we operate, and our entire industry.
Double harvest approach
We take advantage of the fact that vanilla grows in deep shade, to harvest the sun’s energy with solar panels. Not only does this heat the greenhouses, but it also generates
a source of income.
Growing in harmony with people and nature
Vanilla Vida’s triple value - environmental, social, and economic.
Environmental
Zero food waste
Our production reduces food waste to zero, thanks to the use of Vanilla Planifolia tissue culture, and the controlled environment of our curing facility. By doing so, we minimize the risk for plant diseases or mold, which are two main reasons for food waste.
Water efficiency
Greenhouse cultivation allows minimal water consumption and the use of recycled water.
Transportation
Our full production operation from growing to curing is location independent. We aspire to build operations worldwide as close as possible to our clients, and dramatically reduce GHG emissions from vanilla shipping and transportation.
Low carbon footprint
Our carbon footprint is only 82.13 tonnes CO2e*, based on electricity, water, and transportation consumption. We are working to reduce carbon footprint significantly and have already started implementing solutions for the use of renewable (solar) energy. We are switching to water reuse systems and promoting local solutions that reduce travel emissions.

Green clean energy
Using power-generating solar greenhouses, we self-generate produce and use green, clean energy. This also generates another potential source of income for our farmers-partners.
Growing efficiency
Vertical farming and precision agriculture protocols, achieve 250 times more yield with less ground.
Social
Fairtrade agreements
The farmers we work with all over the world are our partners in creating abundant supplies of vanilla. Therefore, we ensure they are provided with fair agreements, long-term profits, and growth business models.
Fair, equal, and inclusive
We adhere to human rights and fair and equitable employment alongside promoting diversity and inclusion. Approximately 30.4% of our workforce are women*. Three occupy technological positions, and three hold management roles.

Economic
Process localization
Our greenhouses and curing facilities are non place dependent, and therefore encourage local job creation in the countries we operate in, and allowing us to create process localization as close to the source as possible.
Local job creation
Our greenhouses and curing facilities are non place dependent, and therefore encourage local job creation. Our advanced agricultural and industrial company offers employees long-term stability and fair working conditions.
